Our Consul at Hong-Kong, to grant him the same rights privi-

leges, and immunities as those granted to foreign Consuls re-

siding at Hong-Kong, and to afford him every assistance ne-

cessary in the discharge of his functions.

We will not fail to extend to the Consuls of

Great Britain, who may be appointed to reside in Japan, pro-

per and reciprocal treatment in all the matters herein men-

tioned.

In witness whereof, we have hereunto set our

signature and caused the Great Seal of the Empire to be af-

fixed.

Given at Our Palace in Tokio, this 6th. day of

the 11th.mouth of the 30th. year of Meiji,corresponding to

the two thousand five hundred and fifty seventh year from

the Coronation of the Emperor Jimmu.
